I’ve been a teacher for as long as I can remember — I was the kid playing school with my sisters and typing up practice tests for the neighborhood. Twenty‑plus years in upper elementary classrooms, a stint as a math instructional specialist, and a Teacher of the Year award later, I still get the biggest kick out of watching students work through something I built for them. My thing is technology: using it to make lessons more fun, more meaningful, and more theirs.

My background is in gifted education, where I was constantly writing my own curriculum to keep highly capable third and fourth graders challenged. That turned into Minds in Bloom in 2006, more than 120 nonfiction books for kids, and a lot of task cards. I believe our future depends on young people who can think creatively and critically, so I bake higher‑level thinking into almost everything I make — and I think learning should be fun while it’s at it.
